Basic rules for Club Soccer:
- Players, parents, captains, and coaches should not dissent from the decision of the referee
- There are no play-time requirements . . . it's up to coaches to determine
how many quarters each player plays.
- There is no requirement that players must rotate positions. While
coaches are encouraged to allow players to develop skills in all positions,
players can become "experts" and play only one or two positions (e.g. goal
keeper).
- In the A division, there must be at least 3 players of each gender at all
times.
- No jewelry,
not even pierced earrings
- No hats with hard bills
- No casts or crutches
- Players without complete medical release forms will not be allowed to
play.
- Players should arrive 10 minutes before the start of the game, to allow
the players to
warm up and to interact with the coach (get field assignments, positions,
etc...)
- Parents and coaches are not permitted to coach from behind the goal boxes.
- Except for the A Division, substitutions are made at the end of each quarter, except when a player is
injured. In the A division, substitutions can me made at any time, but
must be admitted by the referee.
- Referees can expel any person, including those on the sidelines, from the
game for inappropriate conduct.
- Any player lying on the field shall be presumed injured, and game play
must stop immediately.
- No play is allowed which endangers the goalkeeper (kicking at the ball
while the goalkeeper clearly has it in control or charging inside the penalty
area)
- Opponents must be 8 yards from the ball at free kicks and corner kicks
- Slide tackles are only permitted in the A, B, and C divisions and the
referee may restrict them due to field conditions.
- Time of play is continuous and cannot be stopped by a player or a play.
No overtime is played; tied games remain a tie.
- Teams will rotate goals at half-time only (not between quarters)
- B& C Division Games shall have 7 players per side, 5 minimum and D & E
Division Games will be 4 v 4.
- Fields and goals are smaller (approximately 3/4 of full-size fields), ball
sizes change depending on division
- All players of the same team will have matching, or close to matching
colors of shirts. If a player wears a shirt whereby the player cannot be
clearly distinguished from the opposing team he will be removed from play by
the referee until such time appropriate attire is worn.
- The home team (listed on the schedules) wears white.
- All players must wear shin guards.
- When the ball is punted or handled by the goal keeper the ball must not
cross the half line without first touching the ground or any player.
Infraction of this rule will result in an indirect kick from that point that
the ball crossed the half line for the opposing team.
