• Registration

  	Can I pick which kids I get on my team? Coaches can choose which division (age group) you would like to work with, and we will insure that parents are assigned to their own child's team.  However, all teams are formed from a draft pool based on the kids' skill level to insure equitable balance between teams.  We do not permit coaches to "select" kids onto teams.
  	I have a problem with one of the kids that's been assigned to my team.  What can I do? We strongly discourage coaches from restricting youth from their teams.  However, if you have a conflict that you cannot work with, you should call your division commissioner to discuss options.
  	Why can't I pick my own team?  That way my kids can be with their friends and we can better coordinate transportation and practices. The LSA board made the difficult decision in the spring of 2004 to build teams based on skill level rather than geographic neighborhoods, friendships, etc.  Our belief is that the youth will achieve more benefits and growth through random team selection.  We also feel that, since you can drive almost anywhere in Laramie within about 10 minutes, transportation is rarely an issue.  We will make transportation exceptions in extreme circumstances.

• Rules

  	Can a child still play with a cast on his/her arm? Unfortunately, we can not allow casts on the field at any time, including soft casts or splints.
  	One of my players has a new piercing and shouldn't remove it.  Will the rules still require removal? The ultimate decision lies solely with the referee.  Earrings are considered a safety hazard and are not allowed at any level of play.  Jewelry that is difficult to remove can be worn on exception, as long as it is non-protruding and it is taped over securely and completely.
  	What should I do if the referee doesn't seem to enforce the rules properly? The referee makes the final decision in ALL matters.  It is against the rules to indicate dissent from the decision of the referee.  Although we all know that referees do make mistakes, all participants must accept the decisions of the referee in an attitude of good sportsmanship.  If you have a question or disagreement, discuss it quietly with the referee between quarters.
  	What should I do if parents are using profanity during games? All profanity, by a coach, player, or parent . . . on the field or the sidelines . . . is a RED CARD OFFENSE.  Referees have been asked to strictly enforce this rule, but they may not be able to hear some comments.  If comfortable you can discuss it with the parent.  Otherwise, you can quietly remind the official to enforce this rule.  Coaches also have the right to ask a parent to leave the field if they feel the parent's behavior is inappropriate or jeopardizing the team.

• Players

  	What if I can't get in touch with one of the players on my roster? Check the child's registration online for contact information.  If you are unable to contact the player yourself, contact your division commissioner (see the Contact Us page).
  	What should I do if I have discipline concerns about one of my players? First, try to use positive rewards to motivate the players behavior.  If you find it difficult to manage a certain player's behavior, try discussing it with the parent, who can probably advise you of what works in the home.  If absolutely necessary, you can ask a player to sit out of a practice or part of a game.  Just be sure to explain your decisions to the child.  If you are unable to resolve your concerns, contact your division commissioner (see the Contact Us page).
  	What should I expect for parent involvement? It is reasonable to expect parents to support their child's participation by insuring that they come to practices and games on time with the proper equipment.  Your should also ask parents to bring a snack for the team after at least one game.  Parent's are also asked to help as line judges during games.  In the spring season you can ask a parent to be in charge of collecting all unsold tickets and money from the other team parents.  Parents can be great helpers, and as a coach you can help increase their involvement in LSA as assistant coaches, etc.
  	What if I have to miss a practice or game? It would be unreasonable for us to expect coaches to attend every practice and game.  Occasional conflicts are expected.  However, please arrange for your co/assistant coach to cover in your absence.

• LSA Operations

  	Who runs LSA? The Laramie Soccer Associated is a tax-exempt 501c(3) nonprofit organization.  It is managed by a volunteer board of directors, most of whom are parents of LSA players.  LSA does not have a paid director and does not maintain a physical office.  Most LSA business occurs during board meetings and at the homes of our volunteer board members.
  	How is LSA associated with the City of Laramie Parks & Recreation? LSA is independent of Laramie Parks & Recreation and is not affiliated with the City of Laramie.  The Parks & Recreation department does not accept player registrations and they are not equipped to answer questions about schedules, rules, etc.  However, LSA does maintain a positive relationship with the city.  We greatly appreciate that the City allows our games and practices to be held on city-owned parks and soccer fields, and LSA works closely with the parks department to insure that our activities are compatible with city programming.  The City determines when the parks are playable, and we work closely with them to insure that our activities do not damage the turf.  Part of each child's registration fee goes toward reimbursing the city for the expense of preparing and maintaining the fields.
  	How can I get more involved with LSA? LSA is a volunteer organization and we would love your help!  Board members and coaches are all volunteers.  You can help coach, co-coach, assistant coach, or help with operating the organization.  You can assist with our pancake breakfast each spring, or your can serve on any one of our committees to help enhance our organization.  If you are interested in helping the board of directors, either unofficially or in an official decision-making capacity, please contact us!
  	Can I donate to LSA? Yes!  Most donations, cash or in-kind, are tax-deductible.  Contact your tax advisor for more information.  We also actively solicit sponsorships and provide advertising and exposure in exchange for support of the organization.
