All players will need the following equipment:
- LSA reversible yellow/blue jersey (available from
Brown & Gold Outlet 408 E University Ave). In cold weather
the jersey must be worn over coats and sweaters, so be sure to purchase
a large size.
- Shin guards (available from various stores, e.g. Sports Locker, Wal-Mart), to be worn under long socks or pants.
- Appropriate shoes. We recommend a sneaker with a good (non-slip) sole or a soccer
shoe. No hard-sole shoes or boots will be allowed. Soccer shoes with cleats are allowed but
are not necessary. Soccer shoes should not have a cleat at the tip of the
shoe; the referee will not allow such shoes on the field. If your shoes have a
cleat up front, just cut it off.
- If you wear glasses, attach an elastic band around them so they
don't fall off.
- LSA recommends shorts or warm-up pants. Blue jeans are difficult to
run in.
Great ideas from experienced soccer parents:
- Warm clothes are useful, in case of cold or windy weather (especially
for break times). Encourage your child to dress in layers for games and
practices.
- Water bottles are great for practices and games
- Encourage your child to keep everything in a duffle bag, to avoid the
rushed panic to find lost items before a game.
- Check for jewelry BEFORE you leave home. Coaches often find watches,
rings, and necklaces in their pockets after a game and can't remember which
kid handed it to them.
- Many parents bring lawn chairs and blankets for the sidelines.
